How many piles of books have you read? How much knowledge do you get each time you examine a certain compilation of information? Do you read books because it’s your hobby or just becuase you are equired to?
Many of us read different kinds of books like dictionary, encyclopedia, atlas and other interesting books. Books become part of our live because we learn to read since we were kids. Among the books that we have scanned, does “the book of knowledge” belongs to them?
I am pertaining to that kind of book that is not only read by the readers but also understood its content and then analyze all information it provides.
We, students sometimes read books only if we are required to do so. The reason why we read books is to prepare our minds for the examination which will be presented by our teachers. Without such reason, we will never give a glimpse at those books of literature and history. Of course, no one desires to fail, so we will read and memorize all the things the exam may require to avoid failing score.
But the question is, do we really learn something when we read? Do we able to gain knowledge? Surely after a few days, all the things that we saved in our memory bank will vanish and nothing will remain in our mind. Simply because we just read and memorize terms for the sake of passing the test and did not comprehend the meaning of its content. Reading books is like reading the dosage of a certain medicine to be taken. It needs careful understanding of what is implied in orde to get the right amount our body needs, just like what our brain requires to function at its best.
The entire point is that we should not only read books for a certain purpose. The most important thing in reading is how much we understand the meaning and how many times we apply the knowledge learned in our daily activities….for the beterment of our learning, and for the impovement of our lives.
