Present Progressive and Simple Past

- express activities that are in actual progress at the moment the statement is made. Time expressions; now, this time, today.
- is formed with the Be-verb (is, are) + ing form of the verb.
1. Allan is standing where there is light. (now)
2. They are giving her the trophy. (now, this time)
3. The people are wondering at her energy. (now, this time, today)
4. They are enjoying the scenery.
5. The workers are playing baseball.
The Simple Past
- is formed using the past tense of the verb. Refer to previous blog.
- is formed with the time expression: yesterday, last week, this morning, in 1990, three days ago, several weeks ago.
1. They worked hard yesterday.
2. My friends visited the site.
3. He slept late last night.
4. A fast train ran sixty miles an hour. (yesterday, last week, this morning)
5. She brought all her book. (, last week, this morning)
